DNA and RNA are polynucleotides which is a substance whose molecules are made of a long chain of nucleotides linked together with covalent bonds. Each nucleotide made up of: 5 carbon sugar, deoxyribose in DNA or ribose in RNA Phosphate group Nitrogenous base (Adenenine, Guanine, Thymine, cytosine in DNA, Uracil instead of Thymine in RNA) A and G bases are purine while C and T bases are pyrimidine. Nucleotides link together by covalent bonds between the phosphate group of one nucleotide and sugar of another one by condensation reaction. RNA molecule made up of single strand whileDNA molecule made up of two strands held together by hydrogen bonds between the bases of two strands.
